Grace Abiola Arifayan (Mami) spent 92 years on earth but lived a selfless life worthy of emulation. She was a most cherished great grandmother, mother, sister, aunt and dependable friend to all.
It was because of her exemplary life that her families pulled all the stops to ensure she was given a befitting burial in the ancient community of Uro Ikere -Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria.
The funeral service was held at the Diocese of St. Luke’s Anglican Church Uro Ikere – Ekiti and was officiated by Ven. M. A . Ajao (Vicar/Archdeacon, Uro-Ikere)
Thereafter the interment, it was time for socials as guests who came from all over the country and abroad, were endlessly hosted to a grand reception.
Early in life, she charted a path of self independence and it was no surprise to friends and family members that she ventured into trading in clay pots (Ikoko) and later diversified into trading in “garri” (cassava paste).
Grace Abiola Arifayan was born in Ikere – Ekiti to the family of late Pa Osuniana and late Esther Olokunyemi. A devoted Christian, who was confirmed in faith as a communicant of St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Ikere – Ekiti, was married to late Samuel Adebayo Arifayan and the union was blessed with lovely children including prophetess Adenike Awojobi, in the United Kingdom.
She would be remembered for her prayers which she gave generously. She was a jewel to her friends and family, and she taught them the true meaning of humility, honesty, compassion and above all, the love and fear of God.
The large turn-out of people at the ceremony was a pointer to a beautiful life well spent by mama.
The ceremony was attended by prominent Government functionaries, businessmen, politicians, oil moguls, technocrats, clergy men and dignitaries from abroad (UK/USA).
