DELTA 2023 AND THE INTRIGUES OF POWER SHIFT: By Ben. Anthony Edejor

The political atmosphere in the forth coming 2023 general elections in Delta State, occasioned by clamour from different quarters for a power shift to Delta Central Senatorial district, will be keenly contested by candidates of both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), APC , ADC and other opposition parties in the State.

Although not constitutional, but governorship position has always been rotated among the three senatorial zones in the state. The Present incumbent governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who is from Delta North Senatorial district would be ending his second term in office in 2023.

It is widely expected and rightly so, that power will shift to other zones and it is generally believed that the next governor after Okowa would emerge from Delta Central Senatorial District, predominantly Urhobo.

Going by the galaxy of gubernatorial aspirants who have expressed interest for the plump job come 2023, the incoming local content governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori of the PDP, has assured his teeming supporters of his capacity to provide a meaningful and purposeful leadership, if given the mandate in the fort coming 2023 governorship elections.

Be that as it may, many electorates have continued to eulogize his sterling leadership qualities, describing him as an astute politician, tested and trusted PDP Chieftain, whose competence in the political milieu spans more than two decades.

While many political observers believe he is the real DEAL, others see a Pan Delta Project, whose loyalty, experience and track records, will further consolidate on the purposeful leadership of the Okowa’s administration.
