ONYEME TO FG : PAY MORE ATTENTION TO DEVELOPMENT OF OIL BEARING COMMUNITIES

The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, has urged the Federal Government (FG) to pay special attention to the development of oil bearing communities in the country.

Onyeme made the call  when members of the Beneku Community in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the state, led by the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Hon. Lawrence Okolie, visited him at the Government House in Asaba.

Onyeme observed that Beneku was a very important community in Ndokwa, Delta State and Nigeria because of the huge amount of resources being exploited from the community.

“There is no doubt that Beneku is very important  to the Ndokwa people, Delta State and to Nigeria because of the resources being exploited from the community.

“It is unfortunate that despite the huge contribution that Beneku and oil bearing communities in Ndokwa Land  have been contributing to the federal purse on a daily basis, more than 40 years of oil exploration and exploitation activities,  we do not have federal presence in Ndokwa Land,” he said.

Onyeme commended the people for the visit, assuring Ndokwa people and all Deltans that their communities would witness tremendous development through the MORE agenda of the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori Administration.

He urged the people to remain united and support the activities  of the state government.

Earlier, HRH Okwuagwu Anthony, who was represented by the Community Development Committee (CDC), Chairman, Hon. Lawrence Okolie, described Sir Monday Onyeme as a man of great integrity, stating  that he was optimistic that with the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration, there would be economic transformation in the state.
